At Partner for Better, we love supporting local nonprofits while having a great time. This February, we had the privilege of doing both at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Missouri’s annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser.
The Impact of Big Brothers Big Sisters
Founded in 1904 in New York, Big Brothers Big Sisters began with a simple yet powerful idea—providing mentorship to at-risk youth. A New York City court clerk, Ernest Coulter, saw young boys entering the court system and believed mentorship could keep them on the right path. Around the same time, Catholic Big Sisters was formed by the Ladies of Charity to mentor young girls. These two organizations merged in the 1970s, forming Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Today, the nonprofit continues to make a difference in the lives of countless children across the country.
Locally, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Missouri has been serving mid-Missouri since 1968, providing mentorship and support to help children realize their full potential.
Bowl for Kids’ Sake: A Fun Way to Give Back
Every year, BBBS hosts Bowl for Kids’ Sake, a community fundraiser where teams of all skill levels come together for friendly competition, team-building, and philanthropy. This year’s event was held February 21-22 at LevelUp in Columbia, Missouri, bringing together businesses, organizations, and community members to support a great cause.
Partner for Better was proud to sponsor and participate in this exciting event, proving that making an impact doesn’t have to be all work—it can be fun, too!
Prioritizing Fun and Team Well-Being
At Partner for Better, we understand the value of joy in the workplace. We compensate our team for time spent engaging in activities that promote well-being, including nonprofit events, weekend retreats, and social gatherings. We Won the Golden Pin!
During the event, our team put our (admittedly average) bowling skills to the test. We enjoyed snacks, drinks, and friendly competition while participating in a murder mystery challenge, a team photo contest, and a mini-bowling challenge organized by our friends at Sage Culture Co. As the only team to complete all three, we earned the coveted golden bowling pin and bragging rights for the year!
More Than Just Bowling
Beyond the competition, Bowl for Kids’ Sake provided us with a chance to relax, recharge, and strengthen our team bonds while raising money for an incredible nonprofit. Investing in fun helps us return to work feeling refreshed and ready to continue making a difference in our community.
