Nonprofit Summer Camp is a 5-class session designed to equip nonprofit professionals with practical skills and strategies to build a stronger and more effective organization. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in an interactive and collaborative learning environment, where they can learn from experienced instructors and peers in the field. Each session is held virtually from 11:30-12:30 so you can join from wherever the summer takes you.

The session will cover the following topics:

  1. June 7th- Gathering Resources: How to Attract and Recruit Board Members and Volunteers
  2. June 21st- Building a Fire: How to Have a Highly Involved Board and Team
  3. July 6th- S’more Best Practices: A Roundtable of Sharing Nonprofit Resources and Tools *FREE*
  4. July 19th- Skills Test: Evaluating Your Program Outcomes
  5. August 2nd- Rationing Provisions: Building a Budget That’s Right for Your Organization

By the end of this session, participants will have a toolkit of skills and strategies to recruit and retain board members and volunteers, build a strong and engaged team, evaluate program outcomes, and develop a realistic and effective budget. Participants will also have the opportunity to network and collaborate with peers in the field, making this session an excellent opportunity for nonprofit professionals looking to expand their skills and expertise.

Gathering Resources: June 7th 11:30-12:30

Attracting and recruiting board members and volunteers

Led by Jessica Macy

This session is designed to provide practical strategies for nonprofit organizations to attract and recruit board members and volunteers effectively. Participants will learn how to create a compelling message that resonates with potential board members and volunteers, how to identify potential candidates, and how to build meaningful relationships with them. The session will also cover strategies for leveraging social media and other online platforms to expand outreach and attract a diverse range of candidates.

Building a Fire: June 21st 11:30-12:30

How to Have a Highly Involved Board and Team

Led by Jessica Macy & Kasey Hammock

This session is designed to provide nonprofit organizations with practical strategies to build a highly involved and engaged board and team. Participants will learn how to create a shared sense of purpose and vision, build strong relationships, and leverage individual strengths to create a dynamic team culture. The session will also cover strategies for fostering open communication, encouraging collaboration, and creating a culture of accountability. By the end of this session, participants will have a roadmap for building a highly engaged and effective board and team that is equipped to drive their organization’s mission forward.

Roundtable of Sharing Resources & Tools

Facilitated by Jessica Macy & Kasey Hammock

This session is designed to be an interactive and collaborative session where nonprofit professionals can come together to share best practices, resources, and tools. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a roundtable discussion format, where they can share their own experiences and learn from others. The session will cover a range of topics relevant to nonprofit professionals, including fundraising, program evaluation, volunteer management, and board governance. Participants will leave with practical insights, ideas, and strategies to apply to their own organizations. This class is ideal for nonprofit professionals who are looking to expand their networks and collaborate with peers in the field.

Skills Test: July 19th 11:30-12:30

Evaluating Your Program Outcomes

Led by Sarah Smith

This session is designed to provide nonprofit professionals with practical skills and strategies to evaluate their program outcomes effectively. Participants will learn how to identify the key metrics that are relevant to their programs, measure and analyze program data, and communicate program outcomes effectively to stakeholders. The session will also cover strategies for conducting meaningful program evaluations that help organizations to make data-driven decisions, improve program effectiveness, and achieve greater impact. By the end of this class, participants will have a toolkit of skills and strategies to evaluate their program outcomes effectively and drive their organization’s mission forward.

Rationing Provisions: August 2nd 11:30-12:30

Building a Budget That’s Right for Your Organization

Led by Kelly Wells

This session is designed to provide nonprofit professionals with practical skills and strategies to build a realistic and effective budget for their organization. Participants will learn how to identify and prioritize the most critical funding needs, allocate resources effectively, and develop a budget that aligns with their organization’s mission and strategic priorities. The session will also cover strategies for tracking and monitoring budget performance, communicating budget updates effectively to stakeholders, and making adjustments to the budget as needed. By the end of this session, participants will have the tools and knowledge to build a budget that supports their organization’s goals and ensures financial sustainability.
