How We Practice Radical Love at PFB
By Jessica Macy

In all the work I do—whether I’m leading a training, helping a nonprofit grow, or coaching someone through a challenging situation—my goal is always the same: to be REAL. Some people may use the phrase authentic relationships- but you know me, then you know I can’t spell that word without help!
Everyone deserves:
- Honesty,
- Clarity,
- and Care.
I believe that is how trust is created, and I invite the people I work with to do the same.
Nonprofit work is hard enough. Being someone you’re not—wearing masks and pretending—takes too much energy in a field that already demands so much mental, emotional, and physical effort. Trying to be someone you’re not—wearing masks, putting on a show—just drains the energy you need for the work itself. Filters are great for Instagram, but in real life, there’s no filter for who you are. When we can be REAL, that’s when real growth happens.
At Partner for Better, we don’t believe in surface-level or “check-the-box” connections. We believe in building REAL, authentic relationships, no matter how messy they get. And believe this — nonprofit work is MESSY! That means listening before reacting, offering honest feedback, and creating space for reflection. It means accepting that growth doesn’t follow a neat schedule or timeline.
Real progress takes time. It requires trust, patience, and a willingness to work through the hard stuff. In a world obsessed with speed and perfection, we make room for authenticity, truth, and real transformation. We walk alongside leaders and organizations, not above them. We walk alongside leaders and organizations, not above them. We stay grounded in missions we believe in, share practical tools, and make space for both strategy and action.
People and organizations don’t need to be perfect. They need space to be authentic, understood, supported, and focused on their goals. When that happens, meaningful and lasting change can truly take root.
